Tap Into the Science of Winning

Some people are suffering from what is known as seminar junky syndrome. They are going to seminars about succeeding, they are reading about succeeding, they are listening to audio programs about succeeding, and they are so busy doing all of that they dont have enough time left to do what it takes to actually succeed.

If that sounds like you then it is time that you put some science into your strategies so that you can breakthrough the confusion and get the rewards that you are seeking.

The main difference between science and philosophy is that science involves sound experimental procedures, thorough analysis of the results and draws conclusions based on these procedures.

You can use the processes of science in your search for success and not only greatly improve your results but also have a method that you can use over and over again to help you achieve any goals you set.

The first step in the scientific method is experimentation.

A scientific experiment is nothing more than doing something in a controlled, repeatable way and then documenting the results.

You can do this in your own life by keeping a success journal.

Keeping a success journal requires you to take goal directed action, write down exactly what that action was, when you did it, how you did it and how often you did it and then to write down the results you get.

Of course to do this you first have to have a worthwhile, meaningful goal. Then you take all the different strategies that you have learned and pick the one that seems most sensible to you. Then follow that strategy, with all your effort, for long enough to give it a realistic chance of working. While you are doing this you write down the results that you are getting.

The second step in the scientific method is to analyze your results.

You cannot have a meaningful analysis unless you compare your result with an alternate approach. This is simple. You compare the results you get from applying your success strategy to the result you have been getting in your life before you started that success strategy.

What are the results you have been getting before the success strategy? Its the life that you are living now.

To analyze your results all you have to do is to ask yourself if those results are taking you closer to your goal or not.

The last stage of the scientific method is to draw a conclusion.

In the case of your success strategy you just have to answer the question; "is this strategy that I have been using making my life better or worse?"

By diligently following this method you will soon discover what strategies work best for you and you can then keep following those strategies until you reach your goal.

Heres the system once again.

Set a meaningful, inspiring goal, select a strategy for achieving that goal, diligently follow that strategy giving it your best shot, write down in your success journal everything you do and the results that you get, compare the result to what you were getting before, and then decide if your life is getting better or not.

Act To Create It

Act to Create It

by Jack Canfield, America's Success Coach Act to Create It

If you want to live your dreams, not only must you decide what you want, turn your dream into measurable goals, break those goals down into specific action steps, and visualize and affirm your desired outcomes -- you must start taking action.

I recommend making the commitment to do something every day in at least three different areas of your life that moves you in the direction of your dreams.

If one of your goals is physical fitness, make a commitment to do some sort of exercise -- aerobics, weight training, stretching -- four to five times a week for a minimum of twenty minutes.

I read recently that if you simply go for a 30 minute walk four times a week, that would put you in the top 1% of those people getting physical exercise!

If your goal is financial independence, start saving and investing a portion of your income every month with no exceptions.

If your goal is to write a book, write for a minimum of one hour every day.

DON'T LET FEAR STOP YOU

Most people never get what they want because they let their fears stop them. They are afraid of making a mistake, looking foolish, getting ripped off, being rejected, being hurt, wasting their time, and feeling uncomfortable.

Fear is self-created by imagining catastrophic consequences that have yet to happen. It is all in your mind. In fact, you can actually scare yourself by imagining negative and harmful images. But simply stop the catastrophic thoughts and images, and the fear goes away.

REJECTION IS A MYTH

One of the biggest fears that stops people from asking for support, guidance, advice, money, a date, a job, the sale, or anything else is the fear of rejection. In fact, it's been known to literally paralyze people. They become tongue-tied and refuse to reach for the phone or get up and walk across the room. They break out in a sweat at the mere thought of asking for what they want.

I have come to realize that the whole concept of rejection is false -- that rejection doesn't really exist. Think about it for a moment. If you asked someone to join you for dinner, and they said no, you could tell yourself that you had been rejected. But think about it. Did you have anyone to eat dinner with before you asked them? No! Did you have anyone to eat dinner with after you asked them? No! Did your life really get worse? No. It stayed the same!

ACT AS IF

One of the secrets of success is to start acting like a success before you are one. Act as if. If you had already achieved your dream, what kinds of clothes would you be wearing? How would you act? How would you treat others? Would you tithe a portion of your income to your church or favorite charities? Would you have more self-confidence? Would you take more time to spend with your loved ones?

I suggest that you begin to do those things now.

When I decided that I wanted to be an "international" consultant, I immediately went and applied for a passport, bought an international clock that told me what time it was anywhere in the world, printed business cards with the words "International Self-Esteem and Peak Performance Consultant," and decided I would like to first go to Australia. I bought a poster of the Sydney Opera House and placed it on my refrigerator.

Within one month, I received an invitation to speak in Sydney and Brisbane. Since then, I have spoken and conducted trainings in over 20 countries and continue to expand my business around the globe.

Start acting as if you already have everything you want. Most people think that if they have a lot of money, they could do the things they want to do, and they would be much happier. In fact, the reverse is true. If you start by creating a state of happiness and abundance, then do the things you are inspired to do from that state of being, you will end up having all the things you ultimately desire.

You may not be able to fill your closets with expensive Italian suits and designer clothing, but why not invest in one or two really great outfits, so that when you do need them, they are there. When you dress like you have already made it, you will look the part, and successful people will naturally be attracted to you and invite you to participate with them.

The Law of Attraction states that you will attract to you those things that match your state of being. If you focus on having gratitude for what you do have, you will feel rich, and you will attract more abundance into your life. If you focus on what you don't have, you will send out a message of lack and you will attract more lack into your life.

For more on The Law of Attraction, I recommend reading and watching The Secret, a ground-breaking, feature-length movie presentation and bestselling book.

Do you want to achieve your goals?

We all have dreams. But almost no one sets goals to achieve them. Everyone knows that goal setting works, but almost nobody uses it. Now there are two questions:

1. WHY?

But the most important question is:

2. What are YOU going to do about it?

First lets take a look at four major reasons why people dont set goals.

1. THEY ARE AFRAID TO FAIL

The fear of failure is probably the greatest single obstacle to success. Many people refuse to set goals because they fear they, and others, will be able to determine if they were successful.

They dont realize that is is IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL in goal setting. There is just no such thing as failure. But there are such things as OBSTACLES.

Winners dont view failures as failures; rather, they consider them to be learning experiences and opportunities.

Thomas Edison sure didnt succeed with his first light bulb. He once said he discovered a few thousand ways for the light bulb not to work before he perfected the winning combination.

Obstacles will come our way, however, if we perform like a heat-seeking missile. We too can go around, correct our course, and move steadily toward our goals. To get there - and be successful - we must overcome our obstacles and take action.

There is just one guaranteed way to fail - dont set goals at all.

2. THEY DONT REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF GOAL SETTING

Some people think that their dreams can come true without goal setting. They dont realize that there is no such thing as miracle.

You actually have to DO something to MAKE your dream a reality.

When you set a goal you create a step-by-step plan, your path to your dreams. And then you just have to follow this path, one step at time.

Goals give purpose, meaning and direction. By setting goals, and measuring their achievement, you are able to see what you have done and what you are capable of.

Only goals can change you from a dreamer to a doer.

3. THEY DONT KNOW HOW

They dont teach us in school HOW to set goals. Although goal setting is the most important skill in humans life. If you know HOW to set goals, you can achieve ANYTHING.

An even worse mistake that people make is to assume that they already know how to set goals. A person who assumes that he or she has a critical skill when, in reality, his or her understanding of it is rudimentary at best, is in great danger of failing at life.

There are two good free tutorials on the net about goal setting:

"How to Set and Achieve a Goal" ( http://goal-setting-guide.com/free-tutorial.html )

and

"Goal Setting - A 20 Minute Tutorial" ( http://about-goal-setting.com )

4. THEY ARE NOT SERIOUS

Many people dont set goals is that they are simply not serious. They are talkers instead of doers.

They want to be more successful, they want to improve their lives, but they are not willing to make the necessary effort. They do not have the "fire in the belly" that translates into a burning desire to make something of themselves, to make their lives bigger and better and more exciting.

The only way you can tell what a person really believes is by actions, not words. It is not what you say, or what you intend, or what you wish or hope or pray for, but ONLY WHAT YOU DO that counts.

Your true values and beliefs are only and always expressed in your behavior. One person who will take action is worth ten brilliant talkers who do nothing.

So... What reason applies to you? Are you going to change it? Are you going to DO something about it? The only thing you need is DESIRE. And right now you have only one decision to make:

to do it or do it not.

Designing a Goal Achievement Plan

Have you designed a goal achievement plan lately?

Goal setting is an exercise that many of us participate in. We list goals in the spiritual, personal, vocational, physical, mental/emotional, social and financial areas of our lives. We get excited about the goals we set, then if we write them down, we set the sheet of paper on a shelf or in the pages of a book somewhere. Although initially, setting goals is the beginning of goal achievement, there are steps that need to be taken between goal setting and goal achievement.

It is also good to assess your personality when designing a goal achievement plan. A plan of action or a design of goal achievement is essential for achieving goals. If you are a procrastinator by nature, then first and foremost hire a coach or solicit the help of a friend or colleague to be an accountability partner. If you are an aggressive individual that comes out of the gate charging full steam ahead, then you should find a coach, assign realistic times to each task, and also get a second opinion on the times you designated.

There are also a few questions that should consider and answer when you are designing your goal achievement plan. Here are a few:

1. What is the desired end result?
2. What are my motivators that will motivate and encourage me to progress towards achieving my goals?
3. Who will my coach or accountability partner be? (to coach and encourage me towards my goal)
4. What strengths and talents will I use to achieve this goal?
5. What are my weaknesses and how can I get around or overcome them?
6. If there is a task or action item that I cannot perform, whom can I ask for assistance or delegate this task to?
7. What will be my milestones of achievement?
8. How will I celebrate the small achievements along the way?

The focus of designing your achievement path is to ensure that it is realistic, enjoyable, and attainable for you. You are the one taking this journey, so by all means design a goal achievement path that will motivate you and that you will enjoy along the way, yet challenge you to take you to the next level.
